Let's Talk About Lauren London

In the wake of Nipsey Hussle's untimely death, let's take some time to discuss the woman behind the man: Lauren London.

Beginning her career in music videos for artists like Tyrese, Pharrell, and Snoop Dogg, she has made a career all her own in the entertainment industry. In 2006, she landed her first television debut in the sitcom Everybody Hates Chris and in that same year, also landed a film role in as the romantic lead in ATL.

She has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress and continues to work in the industry steadily.

We mourned for Nipsey Hussle; a man who remained in his native Los Angeles city and inspired change and coming together. He left behind his girlfriend, and three children. Lauren London broke her silence on her boyfriend's death when she gave her emotional tribute to Nipsey. In Lauren's touching words to her slain partner, she ends by telling us that the MARATHON CONTINUES.

Although this is a reference to Nipsey's clothing line, she's instilling in us much more than that. It's a call to continue the legacy Nipsey began; to be better, to want better for yourself and your community. London has placed herself not only as a loving partner and mother, but as an ambassador to the qualities her boyfriend represented. Lauren has made a conscious decision to mourn with purpose, to mourn but continue steadfast in continuing what is unfinished. We can all take a lesson in that.

She talks about the love she had for Nipsey, showcasing how much they admired and respected one another. It cannot be lost on any of us, how inspiring their relationship was, and now, how humbly Lauren has decided to cope.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lauren London.
