1. What does women's empowerment mean to you?
All women regardless of race, ethnicity, and or cultural background, uniting as one to uplift one another in gaining stability and equality. This means socially, economically, and politically.
2. How do you define sisterhood?
An unbreakable bond/relationship among women who share common goals and interests. They support each other as they strive for greatness, overcome adversity, and most importantly elevate and inspire one another. No one knows us like US!
3. In the modern world we live in, what advice would you offer to young girls?
To persevere through life and have confidence while doing so. Never give up on YOU and your goals and never let anyone tell you that you're not capable or worthy enough. Know your worth, value your worth and respect yourself and in return others will do the same.
4. How do you balance your school life with a social life?
I live by the saying, "Birds of a feather flock together," so I truly believe those who you surround yourself with will have the biggest impact on your lifestyle which is how I balance school and social life. I simply surround myself around those who respect and understand school is my number one priority, therefore my social life never interferes.
5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hmm, married with kids! (laughs) No that's the typical answer. I see myself at the height of my career still working for Kaiser but as a Senior Director for Health Care. I also would love to work closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention traveling around the world providing outreach and care for those in need.
6. How has working for Kaiser Permanente helped you in your aspirations?
Working for Kaiser has shown me that anything and everything is possible if you stay focused. It's truly a blessing to be working in my career field right out of college and a sigh of relief because all of my hard work is paying off!
7. Have you ever gone through a moment of self-doubt while pursuing your goals? And if so, how did you cope?
Yes! I call my MOM. She's always there to remind me what's important, and to just breathe! It's important to have a solid support system to be there for you when things go left. I also remind myself that if I don't accomplish my goals, who will? No one can do for ME like me therefore I have no other option.
8. Who inspires you the most?
Of course my mother inspires me the most. She has such a pure soul and has always given her last and sacrificed her future just so I can have a better life! I hope I can be an amazing woman, mother, wife, and friend just like her.
We have no doubt Nani is on the way to ultimate success seeing as how she's found so much already!
