Meet The WWE's First Female Referee

You may not think of the wrestling world as something that directly correlates to women's empowerment. Well, you'd be wrong. The world of wrestling is one heavily dominated by men. When you think about it, it makes sense. Wrestling is a full contact sport, and injuries are a common trend. However, just because an industry is dominated by men does not make it exclusive to men.

Meet Jessica Carr: the first full-time female referee for World Wrestling Entertainment.

You may be asking yourself why that's so important. WWE is a multi-billion dollar company with billions of loyal fans all around the world. They are the major leagues of wrestling, and they dominate social media with a cult following. Because WWE has such influence on not only the wrestling community, but celebrities, sports, and media in general, they are in a position to truly set the standard. This is a step in the right direction.

Carr began her zebra-striped career when she debuted during the WWE's Mae Young Classic, a women's tournament including women from all over the world. The event which highlighted and recognized trailblazers in the world of women's wrestling was also the perfect time and place to showcase another stepping stone.

Jessica is also a wrestler in her own right, working for independent promotions under the stage name Kinnadi Brink. She's also been in a WWE sponsored ring, wrestling for Ring of Honor and even NXT billed as Kennedy Lewis.

We're looking forward to Jessica's career, and we hope she's soon accompanied by other women!
